Porsche-specific electrical fault in the bank 1 VarioCam camshaft-adjustment solenoid output-stage/circuit. Unlike P1341 (a performance/implausible-signal fault), this points to the wiring or the solenoid coil itself rather than mechanical cam-chain wear.
SYMPTOMS
- Check-engine light
- Possible rough idle
- Reduced performance
- May be intermittent
LIKELY CAUSES
- Failed camshaft oil-control (VarioCam) solenoid coil
- Open, shorted or corroded solenoid wiring/connector
- Loss of B+ supply or ground to the solenoid
- DME output-stage fault (rare)
DIAGNOSIS STEPS
- Measure solenoid coil resistance against spec
- Inspect the connector and harness for corrosion or damage
- Check B+ supply and ground at the solenoid
- Command the actuator with a scan tool and watch response
- Replace the solenoid if out of spec
