The bank 1 camshaft position sensor signal is implausible or out of range. The DME uses this signal for VarioCam control and cylinder identification; a poor signal can cause hard starts and cam-timing faults on the flat-six.
SYMPTOMS
- Check-engine light
- Hard start / long crank
- Rough running
- Possible stall
LIKELY CAUSES
- Faulty camshaft position sensor
- Wiring/connector fault
- Damaged or contaminated reluctor wheel
- Cam-timing deviation affecting the signal
DIAGNOSIS STEPS
- Inspect the sensor connector and wiring
- Check the sensor air gap and reluctor condition
- Compare cam signal in live data
- Replace the sensor if out of spec
