"A" Camshaft Position Actuator Circuit (Bank 1)

MED SEVERITY

The DME detected an electrical fault in the Bank 1 intake camshaft adjuster (VarioCam oil-control solenoid) circuit.

SYMPTOMS

  • Check-engine light
  • Rough idle
  • Reduced power
  • Possible hard start
  • Slight economy loss

LIKELY CAUSES

  • Failed camshaft oil-control valve / VarioCam solenoid
  • Wiring or connector fault
  • Low or dirty engine oil
  • Clogged oil galleries to the adjuster

DIAGNOSIS STEPS

  • Read live cam-adjustment data with a Porsche-capable tool
  • Check oil level and condition
  • Measure solenoid resistance and circuit continuity
  • Inspect connector for corrosion
  • Command/test actuator operation
